The mission of the Woodstock Academy is to prepare all students for a lifetime of learning by providing academic rigor, a safe environment, and a diversity of educational experiences which will foster a sense of respect for self and others, and will encourage active investment in family, school, community, and the world.Founded in 1801, Woodstock Academy is a comprehensive, independent, coeducational, secondary school. Residents in the towns of Woodstock, Eastford, Brooklyn, Pomfret, Canterbury and Union may attend the Academy through contracts with those towns and the towns pay the students’ tuition. Students from outside of those sending towns and from around the world may attend through an application process and they can become tuition students. A broad comprehensive curriculum satisfies the academic needs of a diverse student population. A wide offering of elective courses complete the educational experience. The campus includes six structures and has the look and feel of a small liberal arts college. The Bentley Athletic complex and Alumni Field House offer Athletes fantastic facilities to compete, including a brand new multipurpose turf field. Graduates are prepared for college and continue their education at universities, colleges and other institutions of higher learning. |
