At Santa Barbara High School we prepare our students for life during high school and beyond. In a manual from 1912, the mission of Santa Barbara High School was shared, “Our aim is to fit students broadly, fundamentally, for their work in life: to offer preparation for college to those who desire further study- even bring the elementary work of college to them in Santa Barbara- to offer training in various types of work to meet the commercial, industrial, and cultural needs of all.” More than a century later, Santa Barbara High School continues the tradition of excellence in education by delivering 21st century learning experiences through the integration of technology and career-technical pathways. Within the 44 acres of our campus, you will find three academies- the Computer Science Academy (CSA), the Multimedia and Design Academy (MAD), and Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA). We are also proud to offer career-technical pathways in the fields of sports medicine, culinary arts, and construction technology. Our ongoing partnership with Santa Barbara City College allows for our students to participate in dual enrollment courses, both on our campus and at the City College campus. Beyond the dual enrollment courses, students are also able to take advantage of Advanced Placement and honors-level courses in all subject areas. Santa Barbara High School offers dynamic extra-curricular programs and athletics. We have over 30 student clubs, giving our students the opportunity to explore their passion, give back to our community, and promote common interests. Student athletes compete in over 15 CIF sports and many of them go onto Division I colleges and the professional leagues. Lastly, we have a thriving Visual and Performing Arts program that includes a theater department that performs three times a year, a vocal program that performs all over the city and the state, as well as a band program that is active in our community. |
