School Profile

Roncalli Catholic High School is a small school with a strong family community, founded in 1965. Modern facilities include a Fine Arts Center built in 2002 which houses the Zimmer Auditorium and Atrium providing space for music, art and dance. Hosting multiple productions throughout the year. The school is well known in the area for elaborate music and art presentations.


COMMUNITY
Manitowoc is located on Lake Michigan, connected to the Manitowoc River. The city has a population of 34,000 which increases to more than 50,000 when including surrounding communities. Manitowoc participates in the International Twin Program with the Japanese city of Kamogawa. The city has three colleges/universities within its limits. Many activities take place in the parks and beaches along Lake Michigan in the four season climate.

Admission Requirements

Enrollment
Students are admitted for a period of no less than one semester and no greater than four years. Second semester enrollment is available upon approval.

International Students and Natural Parents: All of the following items must be completed and submitted/emailed by each international student to be considered for enrollment at Roncalli High School.

English Language Tests
All international students who do not speak English as their official, first language must submit a passing TOEFL Junior Standard, ELTiS or iTEP SLATE Plus.
The International Program Coordinator will determine if students are eligible for admission, in part, based on the results of their English language tests as well as the proficiency they demonstrate in their required Skype
interview. English proficiency is required for admission into Roncalli High School.

Medical Exam for Participation in Athletics
The State of Wisconsin’s governing athletic board requires that all international students must have a physical examination completed in the United States prior to participating in sports practices or competitions.

ACADEMICS
Over 100 courses are offered in a comprehensive curriculum which includes Advanced Placement courses in Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, English and U.S. History and Human Biology. Electives are offered in the practical and applied fine arts which include Art, Band, and Chorus, as well as Business Education, Computer Science, and Family and Consumer Education. The school offers an Academic Resource Center for specific individualized student support and two networked computer labs with wireless access throughout the building. The school is a 1:1 computer school.

SPORTS and ARTS
Each holiday season, Roncalli students put on a Madrigal Dinner for the community, where students dress like it’s 1586. Christmas carols are performed and traditional food is enjoyed during this holiday celebration. Roncalli has given students the opportunity to help train community service dogs that are working to become therapy dogs for people in need. Students recently worked with local businesses to sponsor a coffee shop within the school.
