La Lumiere School

School Profile

The story of La Lumiere began in 1963 with a group of Indiana friends and business associates led by Raymond E. Daly of Gary, the president of the Bank of Indiana. The group of founders included Andrew McKenna of Michigan City, president of Schwarz Paper Company; Lex Wilkinson of South Bend, senior vice president of Associates Investments; Richard Schaub of Michigan City, president of Lake Shore Realty Corporation; and A.J. Rumely of LaPorte, president of LaPorte Foundry Company.
La Lumiere has graduated over 1,200 seniors over the last fifty years, all of whom have benefited from its beautiful location, structured and demanding academics, small classes, dedicated and nurturing faculty, and a sense of community and respect for all. In this way it has fulfilled its purpose: “La Lumiere School assists talented young men and women to reach their potential. We challenge our students to reach for higher goals and to prepare them for college and a fulfilling life.”
