Admission Requirements

Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School accepts a limited number of international students each school year.
International students’ applications are reviewed by the school’s Admissions Office and are acceptedbbased on their academic and English qualifications.
International students may only apply for the beginning of the school year (fall semester only, no spring semester applications).
International students must demonstrate strong English skills (TOEFL English proficiency exam required plus a Skype interview/examination) as all of the classes at Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School are taught in
English at an accelerated rate. The goal is to see all international students be successful at our academically rigorous school.

Application Deadline - Applications for the upcoming school year will be accepted up to July 1st.

Step 1 – Application
International student applicants must complete all of the following steps to begin the admissions process. All items are to be sent to our school via email:
If any items are missing, the student’s application will not be reviewed for an acceptance decision until the application is complete.
Items needed include:
 Completed application forms (download from website: www.NotreDameUtica.org)
 School transcripts for the last 3 years translated into English.
 Complete school health records (must include immunization records) in English.
 TOEFL English Proficiency Test (minimum score of 55) or The Secondary Level English Proficiency
(SLEP) (minimum score of 35) or English Language Test for International Students (ELTIS)
(minimum score of 191).
 Copy of Passport

Step 2 – Skype Interview
Once the initial application is received and reviewed by our Admissions Office, the Skype Interview will be
scheduled. A member of the Admissions Office will schedule the Skype Interview with the applicant.
During the Interview, the student applicant will be asked to respond to questions. These questions will
test both the student’s ability to answer questions in English and their level of knowledge and
understanding of the English language.

Step 3 – Application Acceptance and I-20 Application
After reviewing the student’s application and results from the Skype Interview, the Admissions Office at Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School will make the determination on acceptance to the school. The student will be notified via e-mail if they have been accepted to Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School with an Acceptance
Letter to follow. After the student is accepted, Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School will process the I-20 application if the international student requires an I-20 to apply for an F-1 Student Visa in their home country.
The I-20 should take approximately two (2) weeks to be received by the school. Once the school receives the I-20, it will be mailed to the student’s family. The I-20 may then be used to obtain the F-1 Student Visa in their home country.

Step 4 – Living Arrangements
Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School does not provide and is not responsible for the living arrangements of international students.

Step 5 – Health Insurance
Before an international student is allowed to begin classes at Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School, they must show proof of medical coverage/health insurance. It is recommended that the health insurance covers doctor visits, medicine, and treatments, in addition to hospital stays and emergency services.
Students will not be allowed to attend class until proof is received by the Admissions Office of Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School.

Step 6 – Course Registration and Tuition
When a student is accepted, Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School will send an e-mail notifying the international student’s Agency. Included with this e-mail will be information on registering for class and paying tuition.
Uniforms must be purchased separately. The price will vary ($200-$300) depending on the quantity of uniforms the student wishes to purchase.
